Honda Accord Euro V6 unveiled in the US
February 12, 2009 by Matt Brogan
The Honda Accord Euro is a brilliant car, after all, it won car of the year here in Australia, but some owners have criticised the car for lacking power.
Now Honda has addressed that issue unveiling the Acura TSX V6 (known to us as the Accord Euro) which will utilise the same 3.5-litre, V6 powerplant as found in the larger TL (Accord) sedan.
Providing 208kW through the front wheels, with 344Nm on tap via a five-speed automatic transmission, the V6 model also features upgraded sports suspension, bigger wheels and tyres and upgraded brakes.
A leather interior, tilt/slide sunroof and Bluetooth have also been made standard equipment.
Pricing (and Australian avilability) has not yet been released.

They had the v6 in the higher end Acura TL for the last model, we never saw that either..
That’s great news. The 3.5l V6 Engine is great. I have it in a 2008 Accord V6L, and its brilliant. I’m guessing this would be faster though, given that the Euro would most likely be lighter.
Lets hope it comes to Australia.
I doubt we will see it here, considering we still get the normal Accord with a V6. Honda would be shooting itself in the foot.
C’mon the usual suspects, I’m waiting. 208kW and 344 Nm to a FWD…..”oooh, torque steer, massive torque steer. go away you horrible torque steer!”
Pfft. No Torque steer in my Accord V6 Luxury. I don’t understand how people can whinge about things like this if they haven’t driven one. Even an Aurion rental car I had didn’t have torque steer. Welcome to the new age!
oath’………some ppl still think we’re in the 90’s.
Gee, some people are soo lacking in driving “feel” that they think their car doesn’t have torque steer because the power steering masks the effect at the steering wheel.
You people do understand that there is much more to torque steer than “a slight tugging at he steering wheel” don’t you?
As a family car for daily commute and being stuck in a traffic jam, i doubt FWD with torque steer is an issue for buyers. There is no need to dwell upon torque steer issue, since this is not a sports car.
I doubt they will bring the V6 here though, it would be too close to the Accord V6. Also i doubt this will be much faster than the Accord V6, as the Accord Euro 2.4 actually weigh slightly more than Accord 2.4.
Damn! The American version has certainly been hit with the ugly stick. That front grill is as tacky as hell!
This will never be built in RHD. No market for it in the UK or Japan, and the other markets the Accord Euro goes to don’t have enough volume to justify it. It’s a FWD Lead Sled for the yanks.
i really can’t see the point of putting a big v6 into it.the 4cyl works fine.and all the power won’t make it a wrx or evo beater…
People who bag FWD cars on the oversteer issue need to drive some fine offerings of late.
A good RWD will always be better than a good FWD.
The best AWD cars have a bias towards RWD which says it all really.
I hope they bring this here so people don’t have to settle for the horrid Thai version if they want a V6. Lack of speed is also one of the reasons why I held back getting the Euro. If not the V6, the RDX’s turbo engine is very much welcome.
“A good RWD will always be better than a good FWD.

I think the 4cyl is enough, the vtec engine is revvy enough for the odd squirt if you need to overtake some time and point.
Tha’s true Joober.
I don’t think there’s much need for this car in Oz. I doubt there would be many people out there buying accord euros for their performance figures. For what it is, it’s fine in 4cyl guise. Plus, honda V6’s tend to be on the thirsty side, which won’t really appeal to potential buyers of this type of vehicle.

Strictly for the USDM. Our CU2 platform will not support the V6 according to Honda Japan.
Instead of brining in the V6 version, i wouldn’t mind seeing the diesel engine they have in europe. Even better, bring in the wagon version with a diesel engine.
This V6 is largely to appeal to fat lazy americans who want more torque for their freeway driving.
A Type R is what we should have. V6 or not, there’s just a need for more performance as the current version has gained a lot of weight with only minor engine improvements. What we have now more than fits the bill for a good-looking, comfortable, reliable transport with some degree of Honda fun, but getting that extra power would make it just about perfect.
