Peugeot 208 T16 Pikes Peak racer teased

The Peugeot 208 T16 racecar set to do battle at this year's Pikes Peak hill climb event in Colorado has been revealed for the first time in a series of teaser images.

Competing in the US-based event in the Unlimited Class with nine-time World Rally Champion Sebastien Loeb in the driver’s seat, the Peugeot 208 T16 looks to have a body made predominantly of carbonfibre, with hugely flared guards, deep side skirts and a side-exit exhaust.

Slick Michelin tyres, a roof-mounted air scoop and a large rear wing ensure the exterior looks the part while inside is nothing but purpose with an intricate full cage, race seat and race steering wheel with paddle-shifters.

Loeb – who won nine consecutive WRC titles with Citroen from 2004 to 2012 – was only able to accept the offer to drive the Peugeot 208 T16 after fellow French manufacturer Citroen, authorised the move.

The now entirely asphalted 20km ‘Race to the Clouds’ hill climb event, comprising 156 turns and an altitude change of 1500m, takes place in Colorado Springs on June 30.
