Alex, never had the chance to drive either cars, and interesting that Phantom doesn't get noticed that much. May be cause they are more common in UK? But then again, these big luxury limo won't get people to turn heads as much as a low slung sports car, and it really takes a petrol head like us to notice and recognise what they are.

Alan, the thing that you write about the Rolls Royce having more presence is interesting. I agree with you but you can still go unnoticed in a Rolls Royce Phantom but you would always be seen in a Maybach. I once drove a (grey) Phantom from London to Gloucstershire and back and only had a few people that you could tell noticed. Most were just kids pointing out the back of Volvos and Land Rovers.
I think the Rolls Royce has more presence when you want it too. The Maybach is always sticking out.

I don't think it's that ugly, but it is a bit bland. Not a very special shape, nor a pretty shape. It's quite an forgetable shape actually. I saw a 62 few years ago oversea, and it didn't impress me like a Phantom, the Roller has much more presence.

As for this the zeppelin, i think it's nothing more than a desperate attempt to shift some cars by introducing a special edition with a perfume system, hardly special in any ways. Also, the power boost is largely irrelevant in a big limo like this. Fact is, maybach is selling at less than MB hoped at the start.

Funny how everyone thinks along the same lines when they see a big German ultra-luxury saloon and "Zeppelin" =p

I kinda like the gauche irrelevance of the Maybach though, but maybe its just me. With the name of Zeppelin on it, it'll probably crash and burn out of the blue when Sir tries to light a cigar in the rear, though.

Sorry, CA, you must be joking? Subtle styling? This one of the shoutiest cars on the road! Utterly tasteless. Horribly ugly. One would be naive to buy one.

I have a feeling this may end up the same as the Hindenburg.
I saw a maybach on the road when i was living in London and it was one of the most awkward looking vehicles I've ever seen on the road. I'd say on par with the CLS. No wonder people are choosing the Rolls.
