Honda teases two concepts bound for Shanghai

Honda has teased two SUV concepts ahead of their debut at next week's Shanghai auto show.

One badged as a Honda, the other tagged by its premium brand off-shoot Acura, the sketches show the silhouette of the SUV models, both of which are confirmed for production and "are scheduled to be introduced to the Chinese market in the future".

While Honda says the concept models preview the design direction of two all-new models, more specific details remain light.

The Honda-badged concept looks like a full-sized SUV, with a comparatively long glasshouse, that may sit above the Honda/Acura MDX as a LandCruiser-sized off roader. Meanwhile the Acura sketch shows a smaller, sleeker SUV, possibly one to rival the Audi Q5 and BMW Z5.

Joining the two Honda concepts on the Japanese manufacturer’s stand will be the Chinese version of the all-new Acura RLX (badged as a Honda Legend in Australia), the new NSX concept seen at the Detroit auto show and the Concept C sedan and next-gen Honda Odyssey-based Concept S – both seen at the 2012 Beijing motor show.

The 2013 Shanghai auto show begins on April 20.
