Citroen DS Wild Rubis: luxury sedan teased ahead of Shanghai reveal
Teased ahead of its official unveiling in Shanghai, the Citroen DS Wild Rubis concept previews the production version of the largest and most luxurious model in the premium DS line.
Set to target the rapidly growing Chinese market, the Citroen DS5-based Wild Rubis is a full-size luxury sedan with expansive rear legroom expected, as it is favoured highly in its target market.
The teaser photo shows an angular front headlight design with reversed C-shape frosted-white daytime lights wrapping around four LED headlight modules.
Other stills from a DS Wild Rubis teaser video show the headlights meld into a large, hexagonal grille with a thick chrome border. A ‘DS’ badge adorns the central grille, with the Citroen double chevron badge on the bonnet.
The DS Wild Rubis looks to be a traditional sedan in shape – unlike the wagon-SUV style DS5, currently the DS range flagship.
The DS Wild Rubis could be badged DS6 in production form, and could utilise the Ford/PSA-developed 3.0-litre twin-turbo-diesel V6 engine used in the now superseded Citroen C6 sedan.
As the flagship in Citroen’s premium DS line, a production version would join the DS3 light hatch, DS4 small hatch and DS5 wagon in the range. Citroen won’t yet confirm is a production model is in the pipeline, however.
The concept Citroen DS Wild Rubis will make its debut at the Shanghai motor show, which opens on April 20.
