An X6 drove down St Georges Terrace in Perth a few days ago, and everyone was staring as it roared past. With the angel eyes on and the sound emanating from the engine this puppy was sending a message “look at me!” I was too far away to see what model it was.

I look forward to test driving one. I love the looks – it seems this car is polarising like the M6 (which I also love).

Surely the Audi Q5 should have won? As others are pointing out, the X6 can’t go off road and I bet there will only ever be about two that do and they’ll be magazines having a laugh. The Cayenne wouldn’t qualify, neither would the Q7 and that’s basically it for German cars that can go off road. The Q5 should have won…

Theres a difference between rivals and contenders.

In almost evert market sector cars have a number of rivals however there is usually one or two cars that are so far ahead of the competition that the rest aren’t really contenders more like wannabes as they are trying to beat the [iconic] market leaders

The X6 has a number of rivals such as the Audi Q7; VW Touareg; Merc-Benz ML and Porsche Cayenne.. Yet; whether or not they were/are of the same standard as the X6 in terms of design performance/handling; features etc determines whether or not they are contenders – that is are they worth considering?
It obvioulsy has that certain something which made the judges go for the X6.. although it would have been close

I visited a number of dealerships last weekend just having a bit of a squiz at the latest models on offer – including BMW; and I can say that despite the angle of the rear windscreen the view out the back is adequate ; the cabin is quite spacious and is fairly easy to get in and out of; then theres the way it sounds [droool]… all in all it makes me wonder why they persist with the X5
