Look at Honda’s situation worldwide…

Our market for Honda vehicles is tiny compared to the USA, where the Accord is treated like a Camry i.e. volume seller.

Honda are not struggling in this country. They have experienced a slight sales downturn, sure, but that doesn’t mean they’re struggling. Certainly not to the extent of GM.

In Holden’s defense, they are owned by GM, a US company, who are going through very tough times. For GM to give money to charity at this time would be foolish. Honda, while also not Australian, are not struggling.

Lots of comments going missing today…..

Casey, I wasn’t dissing Honda/Merc for grabbing headlines, just the those few posters above, without a life, that want to critisize others who offer support behind the scenes.

Make no mistake, this is generous by Honda, but it is also invaluable publicity for the Honda Foundation (and I’m not neccesseraly saying that is a bad thing).

I think it’s a pretty sad reflection on some individual’s mindset who have to belittle the efforts of a company who are merely trying to lend a hand.

Would you prefer they didn’t?

To all those who call this headline grabbing I say get a life.

Well done Honda & Mercedes-Benz (and any others) for such generous donations in this truly horrific time. I’m sure your donations are very much appreciated by those who have lost everything.

In reply to all above, i work for ford.
All staff around Australia are leaving tins on our counters for donations. Plus some ford dealerships are putting a percentage of car sales towards it as well.
So just because its not in your face doesn’t mean nothing is being done!

Many companies are offering significant support without the need to “grab headlines”.

Both Ford and Holden provide ongoing support to the charities that are helping “on the ground”. Maybe they’ll make the headline grabbing donation, maybe they won’t. Either way it does not meen that they are not helping.
