Ssangyong LIV-1 concept: sketches preview premium full-size SUV

UPDATE: The LIV-1 has now been revealed. See gallery for more images.

Sketches of the Ssangyong LIV-1 concept have been revealed ahead of its world premiere at the 2013 Seoul motor show later this month.

The Ssangyong LIV-1 concept ('Limitless Interface Vehicle') embraces the brand's "robust aesthetics" design language, taking the form of a premium full-sized SUV.

Potentially previewing the styling of the next-generation Ssangyong Rexton, the LIV-1 concept’s upright grille, muscular bumpers and wheel arches, massive alloys and high window line contribute to a powerful stance and a confident attitude.

Ssangyong says the LIV-1 concept is designed to offer “limitless potentials and limitless joy” while providing the “unlimited high performance and the value” of a premium large SUV.

The Ssangyong LIV-1 is the latest in a long line of SUV concepts from the South Korean manufacturer, and comes just weeks after the mid-sized SIV-1 made its international debut at the Geneva motor show.

The second-generation Ssangyong Rexton seven-seater is now seven years old and, despite receiving a significant facelift in mid-2012, is due to be replaced by an all-new model before the middle of the decade.  Ssangyong sold 114 Rextons in Australia last year, down 29 per cent compared with 2011.

The Ssangyong LIV-1 concept will debut in Seoul on March 28.
