Range Rover Sport video teaser

The all-new Range Rover Sport has been teased for a second time ahead of its New York debut later this month.

The video teaser, which follows a still shot released this week, shows the second-generation Range Rover Sport being packed into a shipping crate on its way from Land Rover’s Solihull headquarters to Brooklyn ahead of its ‘live drive’ event through Manhattan on the eve of the 2013 New York auto show on March 26.

While brief, the 50-second clip gives us a clear look at the Sport’s Evoque-inspired swept headlights, which wrap around the front corners and bring flow to the traditionally boxy 4x4.

It also gives us a taste of the new model’s engine note, likely that of the flagship 375kW/625Nm supercharged 5.0-litre V8.

Inheriting its aluminium monocoque architecture from the new Range Rover, the next Sport will be significantly lighter than the first-gen model, and as a result promises to be even quicker, likely accelerating from 0-100km/h in a little over five seconds.

Land Rover says the new Sport will be the company’s “fastest, most responsive and most agile vehicle to date”.

The Range Rover Sport is set to reach Australian showrooms before the end of 2013.
