$10,000 Speeding Ticket

Seems like Australian drivers aren't the only ones suffering from the hands of ignorant law makers. A government propsal in Ontario, Canada has started the process to introduce a $10,000 Speeding ticket for street racing.

"Mr. Speaker, this would make our street racing fines the highest in Canada!" said Transportation Minister Donna Cansfield with a slight grin.

Current Canadian laws are issuing drivers $1,000 tickets and suspending their license for 2 years when caught street racing. However the law does not only apply to drivers of cars or riders but it states "No person shall race or drive furiously any horse or other animal on a highway."

But it gets worse, if it all goes through, there will no appeal process. So much for innocent till proven guilty! To keep the best till last, there is also a $2000 fine and six months in jail sentence on any driver who uses uses nitrous oxide (better known as NOS) to give their vehicle a temporary horsepower boost on the street.
