Ferrari to ripen relationship with Apple

The relationship between Ferrari and tech giant Apple is set to expand, with the Italian supercar maker's CEO hinting at future endeavours during the Geneva motor show.


Bloomberg reports Ferrari CEO Luca di Montezemolo confirmed the Italian manufacturer is currently in talks with Apple over broadening their partnership on in-car entertainment during a presentation for the new LaFerrari (pictured below), while also announcing the addition of the Siri voice command infotainment system into the 475kW/683Nm four-seat Ferrari FF (pictured bottom) along with two new iPad minis to entertain rear seat passengers.

The report states that Montezemolo said Ferrari would be “more precise” about its partnership with Apple in the next few months.

While other car makers such as BMW, General Motors, Mercedes-Benz, Land Rover, Jaguar, Audi, Toyota and Honda are already moving towards using Apple software in their vehicles, Ferrari owner Fiat has been relying on in-car infotainment technology from Apple-rival Microsoft.

The relationship between the Maranello manufacturer and the American technology goliath has been brewing for some time, with Montezemolo meeting Apple executives, including Apple CEO Tim Cook, during a presentation at Stanford University back in April last year, while in November 2012, Ferrari announced the addition of Apple senior executive Eddy Cue to its board of directors.
