Top Gear Live

By Anthony Crawford |

Top Gear Live arrived in Australia today, with Clarkson and the Hamster in the driver’s seat .

If you’re into cars or you’re a fan of the UK motoring series Top Gear, then I’m betting that you won’t want to miss out on what should be a high octane fuelled event they are calling, Top Gear Live.

tgl-4
CarAdvice welcomed Top Gear hosts Jeremy Clarkson and Richard Hammond this morning, as they introduced the live theatre version of the phenomenally successful UK TV series, Top Gear.

tgl-6
Billed as Top Gear Live and hosted by Clarkson, Hammond and local Top Gear presenter Steve Pizzati, the live show promises to be equally, if not, more outrageous than the hugely successful TV series.

tgl-5
For 90 minutes, ticket holders will be dazzled by 16 acts of automotive tomfoolery such as car football, ‘catwalk car porn’, precision driving with three Ferrari 360 Spiders and the ‘Cage of Death’ to name a few.

There’s also the ‘Cool Wall’ taken directly from the Top Gear TV series, where the punters get to vote on whether the car on the Arena floor is cool or not.

tgl7
One of the highlights will surely be the 3D Apache sequence, which recreates one of the most famous Top Gear road tests, where Jeremy tried to avoid a missile lock from an Apache helicopter gunship around their track.

This time, the battle is staged with a 3D gunship and the super agile, Lotus Exige, which will have to avoid the sidewinder rockets.

Fans will also get a chance to hot lap the famous Top Gear test track, complete with Lap Board times and the pressure of trying to claim the top spot.

It should be loads of fun but our guess is that tickets will be hard to come by, as fans from as far away as Darwin snap them up via www.ticketek.com.au

There are 10 performances only at Sydney’s Acer Arena from February 5 to February 8, and prices are: $69, $89, $120 and $249

    Where is James?
    Did he get the boot?

  • UK Only TopGear Please

The Aussie dude looks so out of place. Seriously they should just axe the Aussie version of rubish and just stick to screening the UK version.

This makes me remember how bad this show really is!

    Yuk! Not enough falcons!

    Cheers

    Got my tickets…Can’t wait!

Sick of ppl bagging the local version cause we so desperately need an aussie car show for enthusiasts that dont care about how many cup holders a car has. If you dont like it, dont watch it!

Wish i could go to the live shows, sounds awesome!

Only two of the Top gear stars travel to each country and are joined by a local presenter. They have a rotation policy. James is currently recording other programs which they all do when not doing Top gear.

Huh, WTF? Since when did James Morrison end up in this thread? He’s not going to be at TGL, just the little over-excited Steve whateverhisnameis.

I wish I could go to one of the top gear live shows but I don’t live anywhere near any of them :(

I just met Clarkson & Hammond (and the rest of the entourage)!!

I asked Clarkson how the show went last night, he said “Fu*&en Sh*t!!! Simon & Garfunkel wrote a song about the ending… the sounds of silence. I don’t get why the show can work in other countries but the Aussies just don’t get it?”

I would be interested to hear if anyone thoughts on last night’s show???

I just went to the Friday night show, and I must say I was a bit disappointed. There were some parts that seemed a bit “corny”. I was curious to know how they could bring the successful concept of a TV show..with road tests..challenges etc onto the stage…and well my thoughts are, they cant. And I am sorry by Steve Pizzati is not a performing, he might be a good driver, but he doesnt have an entertaining bone in him.

Overall, there were some stung driving… Hyunday i30 soccor match …and…the stig spinning around in a Lotus. Pretty lame….

Did anyone go on this site…if so did you pick the fake Ferraris they are now admitting about ?

quote “A sharp-witted show goer at Top Gear Live in Sydney smelt a rat when he heard the Ferraris take to the stage. It appears that instead of throbbing V8s, the “Ferraris” doing burnouts were in fact four-cylinder Toyota MR2s.” Surely any real car enthusiasts can tell the difference ?

    Ripped off !!
