Aston Martin Rapide Bertone Jet 2+2 shooting brake revealed

The one-off Aston Martin Rapide Bertone Jet 2+2 has broken cover ahead of its unveiling at next month's 2013 Geneva motor show.

The unique Aston Martin Rapide-based shooting brake was commissioned by an Aston Martin collector on the strict condition that it would be the only one of its kind.

The Aston Martin Rapide Bertone Jet 2+2 is yet another celebration of the iconic British sports car maker’s centenary. It also marks 60 years of collaboration between Aston and the famous Italian designer and coachbuilder, and comes nine years after the previous Vanquish-based Jet 2 shooting brake concept was revealed.

The Bertone Jet 2+2 retains the 350kW/600Nm 5.9-litre V12 engine of the Rapide saloon and the same basic exterior dimensions, with the obvious difference being its expanded shooting brake rear end.

The wagon-style tailgate features a heavily raked window, ducktail spoiler and a thin LED strip connecting tail-lights that mirror the design of the new Vanquish.

Broad C-pillars sit directly above the muscular rear wheel arches and are angled forwards to contribute to the sense of motion created by the car’s elegant, flowing lines.

The unique shooting brake body style creates more headroom for the two rear passengers, and also allows for extra cargo space, with the individual back seats able to be folded to expand the boot.

Personalised finishes including two-tone black and cream leather, polished wood and brushed aluminium complete the enhancements to the bespoke Bertone creation.

The Aston Martin Rapide Bertone Jet 2+2 will debut in Geneva on March 5.
