Aston Martin Vanquish Volante: soft-top-supercar spied in the snow

The new Aston Martin Vanquish Volante has been spied undergoing cold-weather testing in Europe.

CarAdvice's spy photographers snapped this soft-top Vanquish prototype in the snow, giving us our first look at the styling of new convertible variant that’s expected to go on sale around the middle of the year.

The Aston Martin Vanquish Volante appears identical to the coupe from the tip of its chrome-slat grille to the top of the A-pillars.

The convertible’s designers have also succeeded in retaining the coupe’s sleek profile, with the Vanquish Volante’s fabric roof forming a tight cover over the 2+2 supercar’s cabin.

The two are further differentiated at the rear, where the Volante trades the Vanquish coupe’s integrated rear aero duct spoiler for a more conventional ducktail boot lid.

Like the coupe, the Aston Martin Vanquish Volante will be powered by a naturally aspirated 428kW/620Nm 6.0-litre V12, with drive sent to the rear wheels via a six-speed automatic transmission.

The convertible is likely to pull up just shy of the coupe’s 4.1-second 0-100km/h ability and 295km/h top speed.

With the coupe priced from $472,840, the Aston Martin Vanquish Volante is likely to cost around $500,000 when it goes on sale in Australia.
