So you live in the country ? I know how frustrating that can be with a limited choice of dealers and an imported car with a town full of local manufacturers yards. I had a 600 klm drive to Perth to service any warranty on my Volvo I had and my girlfriends 3 series the same for servicing .

Working on a Sunday…..that sucks.Then I feel for those in Victoria today fighting for all they have against mother nature . I pray for this to come to an end fast for all concerned . Now Im off topic,bad girl !

TO BM where i live mate if you want something other than mainstream you order from the brochure.at the time i wanted an audi but no dealer in town and merc was the local ford dealer who realy had no idea how to market somthing without a ford badge.my ex still has the bm and loves it.i think where 3 years is the norm for warranties 2 years is a bit slack.and as for to much money i wish,thats why im working on a sunday dealing with brain dead pilots.

As I said John, why didnt you notice the build quality when buying it ? I do have to admit after owning 6 BMs the aircon in them has always been a down fall.

BMW have always had a 2 year warranty,whats wrong with that ? They dont have to attract buyers with big promises of warranties its their driving excellence real BMW drivers buy them for. Unless your one of those that have ex amount of money and are after the best badge to brag to your friends too,and dont take that personally Im not directing that at you. Never said you weren’t an enthusiasts did I ? I simply asked the question.

BMW retains full ownership of its operations in South Africa so the quality is just as good as it is in Germany.

Sorry to hear you lost the car in a divorce,I know how that feels !

hey missile dont get your undies in a twist.not exactly a poverty pack at $65.000 with options in oct 2005 .call it what you like but it still carries the bm badge.yes made to a standard but i still think a lessor standard than if it were made in germany.2 years warranty a bit woefull dont you think,total aircon failure at 28 months bm not interested,also you miss my point 40 for ve as opposed to 65 for the bm.and as for my enthusiast status well untill you know me keep that comment to yourself,and yes owned is the word as the car did mot come with the divorce,oh well win some loose some.and i hope gov handouts work here and overseas.

So you got VE quality in a poverty pac BMW ?

What is it with people when they buy cars,you can see the build quality when your buying them but you complain after its in the garage ?

Cheap labour maybe in S.A but they still have quality control,there not making them in dirt bottom shanties mate !

You complain about VE quality yet labour is not dirt cheap here!If you really owned one and you were a car enthusiast you would have noticed on the compliance plate where it was made.

Anyhow this thread is about Gov hand outs…………..

hey frugal one,looks like a 3 series to me um arent they made in south africa?you know cheap labor an all that therefor average quality.had a E49 same build quality as a VE.oh and those workers dont look very african to me.BMWpublicity shot perhaps.

exactly the same deal as what other governments are giving the motor industry. I noticed how you changed your tune F-O when its someone other than the American companies getting government help.
