Skoda reaches 15-million car milestone

Skoda has produced its 15-millionth car since 1905.

Rolling off the assembly line at the Czech brand’s Mlada Boleslav plant, the 15-millionth Skoda was a silver third-generation Skoda Octavia, a car due to arrive in Australia in the second half of 2013.

While 2012 marked a record sales year for Skoda, selling 939,200 vehicles worldwide, the Volkswagen Group-owned manufacturer is hoping to increase this number to at least 1.5 million units per year by 2018.

Along with the new Octavia, 2013 will mark the launch of the Skoda Rapid and Citigo as part of a year that will see eight new or reworked models released from the brand.

The Skoda Octavia will make its official public debut at the Geneva motor show, which begins on March 5.
