Nissan Altima V8 Supercars revealed

Nissan Motorsport has unveiled the race colours for its 2013 Nissan Altima V8 Supercars and its four-man driver line-up that will take to the grid at the opening round of the championship in Adelaide in March.

Nissan Motorsport racing director Todd Kelly and brother and team commercial director Rick Kelly will line up in matching black and white Jack Daniel’s Nissan Altima racecars, while new signings Michael Caruso and James Moffat will partner in the yellow and black livery of internet security company Norton by Symantec.

The four new cars will make their track debut at the annual V8 Supercars Championship preseason test day at Sydney Motorsport Park (formerly Eastern Creek) on Saturday, where they will line-up alongside rivals from Mercedes-Benz, Ford and Holden, the latter stepping out in its recently revealed Holden VF Commodore challenger.

Nissan Australia managing director and CEO William Peffer said the unveiling of the Nissan Motorsport team was another significant milestone for the marque following the unveiling of its development car in October.

“Our Altimas are now in combat colours and ready for battle,” Peffer said.

“The 2013 V8 Supercar Championship is an important part of the Nissan Altima’s marketing strategy. Australian new-car buyers will have an entire year to get to know the Altima name and shape before it goes on sale later this year.

“2013 is guaranteed to be an exciting year for the sport of V8 Supercars, and especially for Nissan Motorsport.”

Todd Kelly said he was confident the team was ready for its debut season.

“I’m so immensely proud of each and every person at Nissan Motorsport,” Kelly said.

“So much time and effort has gone into designing, constructing and assembling our four Nissan Altima V8 Supercars.

“We’ve strengthened every area of our team over the last 12 months in preparation for the 2013 season and I’m confident that all our work and effort will pay off this season.”

Todd and Rick will hit the starting grid in cars #7 and #15 respectively, while the cars of Caruso and Moffat will race under the numbers #36 and #360.

The first round of the 2013 V8 Supercars Championship, the Clipsal 500 around the Adelaide Parklands street circuit, runs from March 1-3.
