Clearly you are used to launching a RWD. The weight transfer of a FWD makes launching difficult. The claimed 0 100 time of a normal focus xr5 is 6.8 for our 5 door versions. Easily done with skill and can be slightly bettered with good street legal tyres. Lightly modified times (exhaust alone) drops this by half a second. (thanks Lambros) You don’t have any launching skill, do you? This new Focus RS is easily the best hot hatch out now, hands down. I would have loved AWD however if you read the whole article you will see why the RS engineers went without.

A bit of perspective on the 0-11 time… 5.9 from standing start in a FWD car means this thing is quick with a capital OMFG. The revo-knuckle system ‘allegedly’ negates torque-steer under power, but it still wouldn’t compete with AWD for off-the-line traction alone. Rev the guts out of an AWD then dump the clutch and you’ll post great 0-100 times before you mash your diff and fry your clutch after a few months. The Mazda 3 MPS puts the Evos and STis to shame in rolling acceleration and it takes 6.1 secs to reach the tonne. Where the MPS is a pig because of torgue-steer and power down cornering issues, the Focus RS will hopefully negate this and be everything the MPS wants to be.

Remember that the original FWD Focus RS wiped the floor with the AWD WRX of its day. There’s an early Top Gear episode where Clarkson proves it.

I just hope that they bring this thing out to Oz as is instead of having FPV try to make their own. FPV simply don’t make their cars hardcore engouh and wouldn’t be able to hold a candle to the Euro RS team.

Awesome little car,Fords made a new suspension system for everyone else to copy,but rename it something else.The only problem is the weight,1467kg is getting a bit heavy for a hot hatch.

you dont even know the price and you are hammering it on price point????

dont forget that FWD tech will keep the price down versus AWD too.
