As a preview of what we should expect from Mitsubishi at this year’s Geneva Motor Show, the brand has released two renderings of its new i MiEV Sport Air Concept.

With companies like Fisker and Tesla pouncing on the performance EV market gap, the Sport Air represents the idea of an electric vehicle as a proper sports car from a mainstream manufacturer.

The MiEV Sport Air exploits the inherent characteristics of an electric-powered vehicle and translates them into performance prowess.

2009 Mitsubishi i MiEV Sport Air Concept

The natural high torque response from the electric motor delivers powerful acceleration while agile driving dynamics have been achieved by locating the lithium-ion battery pack low within the car’s long wheel base.

Mitsubishi hails its new MiEV Sport Air as the new-age ‘pocket rocket’, signalling a new direction for future sports EVs from the brand.
