Well, Stormy, you and I must have been driving different Camrys. Also, you must be psychic, as you could somehow tell that you\'re considerably older than me. Tell me Stormy, how old am I? Here\'s a hint: I have more than 1 child, so I must be at least 15.

As for being a V8 ute enthusiast... I drive a VW Golf, and can\'t stand sport. For what it\'s worth, I\'m the opposite of the \'beer drinking, V8 ute lovin\', footy bloke\' image that you have in mind.

Looks like your psychic skills aren\'t very good. Just like your driving skills, I suspect, Camry boy.

The comment above feels like it was written by a V8 ute enthusiast who's only skill is doing do-nuts in the local shopping centre..!!
Being considerably older than that poster and also having more motoring experience I can say after owning 2 Camrys that Ford and Holden just do not compare.
As for "fast driving ability" the Camry does it well.

J. Jones:

The Camry is a quality vehicle? I'll grant that they are reliable, and hence hold resale value fairly well. However, by any other metric, they stink.

The 07 model is horribly underpowered, the transmission is permanently set to 'grandma', unless you tramp it, in which case the tacho jumps from 1500 to 6000, the engine whines, and the car starts to slowly accelerate. If you ease your foot off even slightly, it's back down to 1500RPM. Unless you're cruising at 80km/h and never change speed, it's awful!

The suspension feels like it was designed by a mattress manufacturer. It has an interior that only a Japanese salaryman (or perhaps Phillip Ruddock) could like.

The car is designed not to scare people who can't drive; no communication through the steering wheel or pedals, crap suspension, soft brakes, and no power.

All in all, the car is bland, awful to drive (good luck overtaking on a highway, but that's OK, because the target market don't know how to overtake anyway), and ugly.

I'll agree that the Camry is a different class to the Commodore or Falcon; you can get V8s in those, and they're rear-wheel drive. The Camry is in the 'I want the most boring car ever so that it will match my grey polyester tie' class.

All in all, a car designed by people who don't care about cars, for people who don't care about cars.

This review looks like it was written by a Commodore a holic. Obviously not comfortable around a quality vehicle??
This model Camry is worth 10 holdens or falcons. A totally different class of car.
