By George Skentzos |

While sister company Audi has well and truly embraced the idea of LED daytime running lights, Porsche hasn’t quite adapted to the new trend just yet.

For current owners of the Cayenne SUV, world renowned Porsche tuners TechArt have released a new multifunction LED daytime running light assembly.

This new piece of kit incorporates daytime running lamps, park lights and turn signals into the one seamless unit.

The intelligent system automatically adjusts the brightness depending on the selected driving light, as well as self-dimming while indicating for higher visibility.

The system is available from RamSpeed in Australia and New Zealand from March 2009 for the Cayenne GTS, Turbo and Turbo S as well as TechArt Magnum conversions.

Hmmmm… im still trying to work out what this fad is about. Although i must admit when i see and audi driving around i have a good look…

I guess it makes sense in a way… the more visible the better? New motorbikes for example are required to have a constant headlight.

I guess it cant hurt anyone….

  • Tack

    Wow cool!!!
It looks like a fat Darth Vader !!!

  • Wheelnut

I don;t particularly like the Cayenne but the LEDs would have looked better if they went over the top of the headlights like a pair of “Angry” eyes.

  • Austin

Or you can turn your headlights on, like many company driving policies require. A reasonable percentage of new cars turn their lights off automatically when you get out of the vehicle so why not leave them on if it might save you one head on accident, hell you’ve only got one head ;)

Like Clarkson says – make your car look like a christmas tree by choosing LED’s.

Can’t believe we’re talking about aftermarket lights for a Porsche when Porsche themselves are about to launch in February the first ever diesel Porsche….A Cayenne using Audis 3.0 diesel donk. Come CA think bigger.

  • Simon

Techart ..What a mean machine!.I do somewhat agree with ‘Cupid Stunt’, there are are bigger news out there, like… I hear RamSpeed (I think backed by some deep pocketed investors) are are about to bring some unique cars into Australia (according to the latest Feb issue of ‘Wheels’ Mag.)

Simon, we post as much news as we can, regardless of how ‘big’ it is.

Expect much more news from RamSpeed in the future.

  • Alex

Well thats just, um, lovely. As if you needed your Cayenne to stand out more. I think it suits Audis well but I’m not so keen on this. I think I’d rather one without the lights.

  • chappy

I guess you are going see a lot more manufacturers having daytime lights as there own signature as my BMW 335 coupes ring lights they look great and safety as well and yes you look at them all the time when one comes past you.

  • Cupid Stunt

Alex, ask nicely and they’ll do a set for your Rangey.
    Be well Bling then eh!

  • Alex

I’m not a very big fan of bling Cupid. I’m more into what’s tasteful.

  • Cupid Stunt

Twas pulling yer leg alex. You should know me by now…never sensible bing contraversial.

The LED’s do look good on the Audis though but somehow when I see them semi-blinding me, tey irritate me.

  • WVB

Again, like putting lipstick on pig.

  • ScottB

Excellent, they’ve found a way to make the fat and ugly Porsche even uglier. I predict they’ll be extremely popular, because let’s face it the people that buy the Cayenne have more money than sense and are proud of their lack of taste.

  • c1ockwork

Am I the only one who finds these ugly as hell? Even on the R8, these seemed to be more of a styling signature than a good looking highlight to me.

Chappy, agreed, the BMW ‘Halo’ running lights look fabulous and are eye catching (for the right reasons). I don’t think these are in the same league (design wise). Both certainly help distinguish the Marques (from a distance too).
