Luxury British sports car maker Aston Martin has kicked off its birthday celebrations by unveiling a new bespoke Aston Martin Centenary Edition Vanquish.

The range-topping Aston Martin Vanquish Centenary Edition showcases a painstakingly created specification that will be made available on just 100 examples of each of the marque’s model lines: V8 Vantage, DB9, Rapide and Vanquish.

The exterior features a specially created graduated paint finish, sterling silver Aston Martin wing badges with tailored ‘trans flux’ enamel inlay and a special Aston Martin hallmark designed to represent the company’s 100-year history.

The process of creating the paint finish alone adds around 18 hours to the standard paint job, which can take up to 50 hours to complete, highlighting the exclusivity of the limited editions. The special graduated finish is achieved by adding various tinters to create the darker inner colour. The paint mixture is then applied by hand to each individual panel, by a mini-jet spray gun.

Aston Martin design director Marek Reichman said it was a difficult process to get right.

“The team has looked closely at the individual contour lines of each of the cars to determine not only the right colours and shades, but also to create a template by which the paint changes from dark to light and where the graduation effect sits.”

Inside, the Aston Martin Centenary Editions get the same bespoke treatment with Deep Soft black leather – from the One-77 hypercar – with contrasting silver stitching and unique silver thread embroidery of the Aston Martin wings in the head restraints. There are also solid sterling silver sill plates individually numbered with an Aston Martin hallmark.

Buyers of each Centenary model will also receive a special gift box containing several exclusive items including two glass keys, two bespoke key pouches made from the same leather as the car’s trim, solid sliver cufflinks featuring the Aston Martin script, a solid silver pen and a set of high-end Bang and Olufsen headphones.

Also included in the presentation box will be a silver polishing cloth for the silver centenary wing badges and sill plaques.

Aston Martin Centenary Editions are available to order now with prices on request from any of the brand’s 146 worldwide dealers.

I nearly don’t care if AM never changes the appearance of their vehicles. I love them.
