2013 Skoda Fabia, Roomster updated with new badges

The Skoda Fabia and Roomster will be updated with the brand's new logo and badges this year as the Czech manufacturer embarks on its most important product rollout ever in Australia in 2013.

The updated logo – first revealed almost two years ago at the 2011 Geneva motor show – features a new chrome winged arrow on a matt black background. The laurel wreath and integrated Skoda lettering of the old logo have disappeared as the brand pursues a symbol that reflects its new emphasis on strength, growth and design.

The new logo will appear on the bonnet, tailgate, wheel centres, steering wheel, engine cover and key fobs of the 2013 Skoda Fabia city car and Skoda Roomster compact MPV.

Both models will also feature ‘Skoda’ lettering on their tailgates for the first time, while engine and variant designation badges – such as TSI, TDI, vRS – will also adopt the new matching typeface.

With production of the updated models now underway, the refreshed Fabia and Roomster should reach Australian showrooms before the middle of the year.

They will be followed by three all-new models: the small Rapid liftback sedan, the Volkswagen Up!-based Citigo, and the third-generation mid-sized Octavia.

Although originally expected here earlier in 2013, the Rapid now appears unlikely to arrive before the second half of the year, with the Citigo and Octavia tipped to launch in the surrounding months.

Skoda Australia enjoyed growth of almost 20 per cent in 2012 on the back of strong sales of the Yeti compact SUV and the Fabia.
