2013 Mercedes-Benz E-Class revealed in leaked images

Images of the 2013 Mercedes-Benz E-Class have leaked online revealing the updated interior and exterior styling of the overhauled large German luxury car family.

The images – which first appeared on enthusiast website GermanCarForum – confirm much of what we already knew about the upgraded Mercedes-Benz E-Class, following a string of spy shots of the sedan, wagon, coupe, cabriolet and E63 AMG in recent months.

Most obvious are the new single-lens headlights, which replace the old twin-lens design for a more elegant and cohesive front-end. The traditional four-eyed face – an E-Class signature since 1995 – is reborn in the form of two crisp LED running light tubes in each headlight, giving the new model fresh but unmistakable character.

The images also confirm that, like the smaller C-Class, the new Mercedes-Benz E-Class will be available with two different grille designs: the traditional ‘Elegance’, with three-slat grille and upright bonnet badge, and the new Avantgarde, with two-slat grille and prominent three-point black-backed badge.

Further differentiating the updated Mercedes-Benz E-Class from the outgoing model is its new bonnet and front bumper designs, along with tighter lines around rear wheel arches and revised tail-light lenses and rear bumpers.

The single interior image reveals a number of new elements, including a sporty three-spoke steering wheel, redesigned instrument cluster with three distinct binnacles, and upgraded switchgear and materials that combine to create a sharp, modern ambience.

Mercedes is set to reveal more details on the updated E-Class this week, ahead of its official unveiling at the 2013 Detroit motor show in January.

The 2013 Mercedes-Benz E-Class sedan and Estate will arrive in Australia in June and will be joined by the updated coupe, convertible and E63 AMG variants in September.
