Toyota Kluger Altitude special edition adds value, features
The Toyota Kluger Altitude special edition is now on sale in Australia, bringing new levels of value and equipment to the popular large SUV range.
Priced from $44,990 in front-wheel-drive specification and $49,490 in AWD, Toyota says the Kluger Altitude package adds more than $8000 in extra features for a $2300 premium over the KX-R variant on which its based.
The special edition seven-seater scores 19-inch alloy wheels, front fog lights, black roof rails and Altitude badging on the outside, while the cabin gains satellite navigation with 3D display, tilt and slide sunroof and a rear-seat DVD entertainment system with a nine-inch screen and wireless headphones.
The satellite navigation system features SUNA traffic monitoring and speed camera warnings, and is displayed through a 6.1-inch touchscreen that also facilitates Bluetooth phone connectivity and audio streaming, USB and SD card readers, voice recognition and SMS text-to-voice functionality.
The Toyota Kluger Altitude is available in four colours – Ebony, Crystal Pearl, Silver Pearl and Graphite – and features a black fabric interior.
Like all Kluger models, the Altitude teams a 201kW/337Nm 3.5-litre V6 petrol engine with a five-speed automatic transmission, and burns fuel at a rate of 11.0 litres per 100km on the combined cycle.
The Kluger becomes the fourth SUV in Toyota Australia’s line-up to get the Altitude treatment this year, following similar special edition packages for the Prado, LandCruiser 200 Series and RAV4.
The Toyota Kluger is the third-highest selling vehicle in Australia’s large SUV segment. With 11,027 sales to the end of October (up 26.5 per cent on 2011), the Kluger trails only its more hardcore off-road sibling, the Toyota Prado (14,496), and the locally manufactured Ford Territory (12,459) in the market.
