The Jaguar XFR-S super sedan has been locked in to make its world premiere at this month’s 2012 Los Angeles auto show.

Previewed in a tightly cropped teaser image (above), the Jaguar XFR-S will become the fastest and most powerful sedan in the British luxury sports car maker’s history when it hits global showrooms in 2013.

Joining the hardcore XKR-S coupe and convertible at the head of the company’s performance car family, the Jaguar XFR-S promises to give the Big Cat brand a competitor for the BMW M5, the Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG and the upcoming Audi RS6.

Although Jaguar is yet to officially confirm it, the XFR-S is expected to inherit the 404kW/680Nm 5.0-litre supercharged V8 from the XKR-S, which should make the sports sedan capable of pouncing from 0-100km/h in around 4.5 seconds.

Like its two-door siblings, the Jaguar XFR-S will benefit from suspension and brake enhancements to match the extra power and heighten its on-track ability.

As the teaser image shows, the XFR-S boasts high-gloss black mesh in its front grille and air intakes, while the lower central intake features a carbonfibre surround. And just like the XKR-S, Jaguar’s French Racing Blue hero colour will headline the XFR-S’s colour palette.

Our earlier spy photos also reveal the fiery four-door will score black alloys, chunkier side skirts, a lip spoiler on the boot lid and a prominent rear diffuser.

With recent price reductions slashing the cost of the 375kW/625Nm Jaguar XFR to $189,900 and the XKR-S to $299,000, the Jaguar XFR-S is tipped to start in the region of $225,000-$250,000 when it arrives in Australia.

Stay tuned for more details on the XFR-S when it debuts in LA on November 28.
