2013 Nissan GT-R Nismo GT3: new track weapon released

The 2013 Nissan GT-R Nismo GT3 has been released by the Japanese car maker's motorsport division, with orders for the race car now underway.

Following the recent unveiling of the road-going 2013 Nissan GT-R (R35), the track-only Nismo GT3 version brings with it advances from Nissan's years of racing in the GT category, as well as track testing and customer feedback.

Improvements to engine components, aerodynamics, braking systems, suspension settings and gear ratios have all combined to enhance the Nissan GT-R Nismo GT3’s competitiveness and performance.

New camshaft timing, new and larger front aerodynamic canards, and a massive repositioned rear wing combine with the car's 1300kg kerb weight, 405kW/637Nm 3.8-litre twin-turbocharged V6 engine, and super-wide 18x13-inch wheels to increase downforce and improve vehicle balance.

The best bit? The Nissan GT-R Nismo GT3 is being manufactured on demand, with customers in Japan, Asia, North America, South America, and Oceania already checking their wallets for the necessary 35,000,000 yen ($417,240).

Nissan stresses that unfortunately, as the Nismo GT3 is a racing car, “it cannot be used on public roads or be registered for such a license”.

If that seems a little pricey, the 404kW/628Nm 2013 Nissan GT-R road car is due to launch in Australia in February.
