2013 Toyota RAV4 teased

The first official image and video of the 2013 Toyota RAV4 have been released as teasers to the SUV's full reveal at the 2012 Los Angeles motor show on November 28.

Toyota's picture shows only the upper rear section of the new-generation RAV4, though in combination with the sneak peek-style video, it's clear the model matches up with pictures (below) of a prototype spotted in Saudi Arabia in August.

The new Toyota RAV4, due in Australia in the first quarter of 2013, will have styling features such as sharper lines and a wraparound headlight and grille treatment that will relate it to the company's other latest models such as the Corolla small car.

As CarAdvice exclusively revealed earlier this year, the new RAV4 will include a turbo diesel engine in a change to the petrol-only line-up of the outgoing model.

The 2.0-litre four-cylinder diesel will replace the V6 in response to customer demand, joining a 2.5-litre four-cylinder petrol that swaps in for the 125kW 2.4-litre.

The Toyota RAV4 was one of the first of the so-called road-biased 'soft-roader' 4WD breed when it launched in the 1990s and it continues to be one of the most popular SUVs in Australia.

CarAdvice will be at the 2012 Los Angeles motor show to bring you all the key coverage of the 2013 Toyota RAV4 and other major highlights that will also include the all-new Porsche Cayman.
