Video: 2010 Toyota Prius with Blue Men

December 28, 2008 by George Skentzos

The entire teaser video of the new Prius, which created the first original leaked images, has in itself been leaked on to the web.

Careful attention to exclude scenes featuring the Blue Man Group in earlier leaks may suggest this was a premeditated viral marketing campaign by Toyota to unveil its next generation hybrid.

Either way this is our best glimpse yet of the highly anticipated 2010 Toyota Prius, which has created quite a lucrative reputation for itself as the best selling hybrid vehicle ever.

Looks whole lot better than old one, but are those guys blue because they in a prius or because there holding there breath so nasty carbondioxide won’t contribute to globle warming?

  2. Andrew M says:

    Phill,
i read in the toyota press release that they are blue to represent the life that has been sucked out of them.

  3. Alex says:

It’s only the best selling hybrid car because there are so few different hybrid cars in the first place and the only other half desirable ones are Lexus’ and they are out of a lot of peoples reach. And of course, you may be like me and you can afford a Lexus hybrid, but if you did actually buy one you would be ruled as having no taste.

  4. Crouchy says:

Oh so this isnt the new focus? Front end sure looks similar…

  5. Captain Mainwaring says:

So this is the new Prius? From what we’ve seen the new Honda Insight looks at least as good (if indeed a bit similar) but promises to be at least as economical and a lot less expensive to buy. Should be an interesting battle.

  6. Fasthonda says:

The driver is probably going to need his/hers opera glasses to read the display on the dash.It seems to be a little too far from the driver.
The steering wheel looks like it’s at chest level!Maybe it’s just the angle of the camera?
    The side profile looks good.

  7. zahmad says:

Gayest car ad I’ve ever seen!

  8. Tom says:

What is this trend away from normal guages?

Those ones in the middle are not easier to read.

  9. Andrew M says:

    Tom,
    i agree.
i cant stand cars that seem to want to break the unconventional way of placing instruments.

Perhaps nissan learnt something when the did the backflip and started putting the dials back where they belong in the Xtrail

  10. Alan says:

Looks a lot nicer than the current Prius, which isn’t saying much. As for the interior, again better than the current one, but i’m not too fond of the raised centre console similar to the corolla hatchback.

  11. Crouchy says:

Putting the gauges there is just silly. There are many motoring trends that i would like to see all manufacturers take on bored…

That is NOT one of them.

  12. Peter says:

A bit cheeky of them alluding to ‘plug-in’ at the start of the video when this is the vert technology Toyota was expected to (and should have) introduced with this new model.

  13. Paul says:

there are rumors going around there will be a Option of having Solar Panels on the roof of the car to enable Air Conditioning and stuff.

The rumor started from those leaked pics of the cars smart keys. One of them has a AC button on it, one doesn’t.

Regardless Honda are saying the Insight will be about 30K or less when it launches in Australia in 2009.

It will be very interesting to see how Toyota can justify to people to spend close to 10K more for their prius, considering they will both look very similar and are both hybrids and both from very reputable car brands.

Unless Honda has shocked Toyota abit of pricing and Toyota will be forced to eather lower the price, or have more kit as standard to make it worth the premium toyota wanted.

    Intesting times ahead.

I have to admit I personally think the Prius looks ALOT better then the new Insight. The concept pics of the Insight looked great! but after that side profile pic of the PRODUCTION Insight got leaked, it looks abit gross.

I think it all comes down to the wheels. And the Prius’s wheels do look quite nice.

  14. Car-Enthusiast says:

Doesn’t the colour Blue represent Sadness, cause that what them ppl in the add are, not to mention the new Prius.

And with the guages it just shows how Cheap Toyota is, the reason they put the guages in the middle is to save money, when building left hand and right hand drive cars.

Now personally i dnt care about this car or any other Hybrids or Diesels, im more of a V8 person.

Some Diesel cars are more economical than this prius, but they are all just gimmicks.

If u do wana save the world go buy something like a Honda FCX Clarity (Already on sale) or a GM Hy Wire (Which isnt in production yet) which produce no emissions what so ever.

  15. realcars says:

The masters of Auto spin are at it again.

Will the new model be cheaper or still a blatant ripoff like the old.

Toyota charging more for less as usual.LOL.

The FCX is not available for sale you can ONLY lease it in California and nwhere else on the planet, also how can you buy the GM Hire wire, even you state its not in production. Get real.

  17. Cupid Stunt says:

Is it me or is “blue” the new green.

  18. xa-mont says:

I have to say, they win my vote this time around, they have made it actually look like something that a normal person would drive, so its not going to stand out like the proverbial on the roads now like the previous model did though im sure a lot of people would be pleased to stand out in an economical car in these times of enviromental termoil (or so “they” say :P)

Having said that, i would never drive one, they are only really in thier element in the stop-start trafic of cities, where i would much prefer the agility and trafic eating abilities of my motorbike. If i were running a company (say an IT company) that serviced a wide metropolitan area, a prius would make a great little fleet car. Not only being economical, but also providing a “green” (or should that now be blue?) image would be great.

I still cant see them taking off with any great success, especially in light of the recent drop in petrol prices world wide.

It looks nice, it has great economy, its conveys a “green” (or blue) image and im sure you would feel better for the enviroment when driving it, but i think ill stick to my XR6T Ute, 8.7 l/100km highway and about 11.5 l/100km city will keep me happy, especially when i can step on the loud pedal and feel something (a LOT of something if we are being honest).

    Thats my 2c.

  19. RoFlmaTiC says:

Am in Vancouver, Canada at the moment. The vast majority of taxi’s here are Toyota Priuses!

  20. Cupid Stunt says:

Yeh noticed that last April when I was in Vancouver. Makes yah wanna puke.

  21. Alan says:

Actually on the way home today, i was followed by a prius taxi. First time i’ve seen a prius taxi, and this was in Melbourne’s eastern suburb.

  22. Mike says:

That “Matrix” advert is moronic. There is no sense in showing violence as a supposed solution to a problem…
