The four-cylinder engine is mated to a five-speed manual transmission and effective braking ability is supplied by power-assisted 16 inch ventilated front disc and 11.6 inch rear drum brakes. Suspension is via a front double wishbone suspension with coil and front stabilizer, and rear rigid elliptic leaf spring suspension.

The 2.4-litre Triton has a turning circle of just 11.4 metres – putting some family cars to shame! 16 inch steel wheels, with full sized spare, are standard and tyres are 205R16C 110/108R 8PR. Alloy wheels are available as an optional fitment.

Being a Mitsubishi, the Triton 2.4-litre comes with a comprehensive five year/130,000 whole vehicle warranty, backed up by its 10 year/160,000 km powertrain warranty and a five year/unlimited km roadside assistance package. The best warranty on the market available from any manufacturer.

It all sounds really nice, BUT it simply looks ordinary, I mean seriously would you want to be seen driving around in a ute that looks like it has been design by someone watching too many SCI-FI movies.

I can assure you that I will not be adding one to our 1200 LCV fleet.

:) I think Mazda was going for a more futuristic look and kinda lost the plot. The front is not too bad, but the rear… I don’t really know what they were thinking, Perhaps they hired one of SsangYongs designers to get the job done.

I quite like this car even though the rear is a bit give and take. I just like ti because it is so much different than the other turbodiesels it has to compete against. I mean take the Holden/Izuzu Rodeo, the design is so predictable and it hasn’t changed all that much, it has just been modernised. I am a fan of both this vehicle and Hilux AUV because they are something different and the interior space and features are quite well-equipped for a vehicle of their kind. Look at the two door triton, it has 3 front seats, hardly any new 2 door utes get that anymore.

I kinda like them … especially for the price. I have seen them advertised for $25.5k drive out the door. I would even consider buying one as a family runabout. Dress it up a little with some cheap sunraysia rims and decent rubber, and a nudge bar or bullbar to dress up the front … and maybe a fibreglass canopy.

I have ordered a GLX twin-cab with the 2.4 litre engine, and I hope to pick it up at the end of August. I wanted a burgundy coloured one, (called Red Planet by Mitsubishi), but I could only get a white one, as in the picture, if I wanted a ute before October or November. The white one was the only one available in New South Wales, and that was after I rang about five dealers. I think they are bordering on ugly to look at, but of all the utes currently on the market, the Mitsubish is the best-equipped for the least money, plus it has the biggest cabin in the twin-cab version. I’m sure I’ll get used to the appearance, and I expect ihat it will make a good workhorse, with a few of the luxuries of the sedan I had to get rid of to make way for it.

I have had a 2007 ML glx-r for 4 months now. I’ve kitted it out with full TJM bullbars, sidebars & rear bar. TJM 9000lb winch. I got in gun metal grey, factory diff lock aftermarket cruise and a set of BFG all terrains. It’s pretty good off road I had a 2000 rodeo before. The rear locker makes a big difference. You can take things a bit slower and not bounce of to many things.

Have just found out that TJM have a lift kit out now 35mm in front and 45 in rear above standard( allowed max 50mm lift before eng cert is req’d) I’m going to get that next as with teh winch and bar work it sits 25mm lower in front and work gear in the back its about 40 mm.

First thing on any accessory list should be a air tech snorkel as the intake sits to low. Even when just splashing through little puddles.

If you have a factory locker you won’t be able to fit a Long ranger tank ( 125lt ) haven’t found an alternative yet.

Haven’t sorted out the under bonet dual battery system yet.
