Apple executive Eddy Cue joins ranks at Ferrari

Ferrari president Luca di Montezemolo has announced that Apple senior executive Eddy Cue has joined the Italian brand's board of directors.

Montezemolo said he was delighted with the addition of Cue, Apple's senior vice president for internet software and services, to the Ferrari board.

“Eddy Cue, one of the main driving forces behind Apple’s range of revolutionary products, has now joined our board. His huge experience in the dynamic, innovative world of the internet will be of great assistance to us.”

Cue, a 23-year Apple employee, has played a leading role in the creation of the Apple online store, the iTunes music store and the App store.

“I am pleased and proud to become a member of the board. I have personally dreamed of owning a Ferrari since I was eight years old and have been lucky to be an owner for the past five years. I continue to be awed by the world-class design and engineering that only Ferrari can do," Cue said.

While having the Apple executive onboard could help boost the Maranello-based manufacturer’s digital prowess, Ferrari already has almost 10 million Facebook fans and more than 20 million views on its YouTube channel.

Luca di Montezemolo met with senior executives from Apple and Google, including Apple CEO Tim Cook, earlier this year at a presentation at Stanford University.
