white gold is a mixture of platinum and whitish gold, hence giving it that chromish colour.

I couldn’t let this one pass by unsaid.
The Benz has actually been sprayed with activated Silver, to achieve a reflective Chrome look and doesn’t add to its weight. He could have chosen a series of final reflective colours, I just find the Chrome colour frankly boring & why I have an electroplating business where I Gold Plate among other things Chrome & Stainless steel Car Accessories & Trims, with 24Karat Gold. why would you do it anyway? Looks crap, you can roast in it, and it weighs one ton more… make it in carbon fibre or kevlar to be different, no? Or why didn’t he buy a Ferrari or a Lambo, instead?
And then again.. didn’t he have enough money to do it in real 24 carats gold instead of plating it?
