Maserati celebrates in style

December 11, 2008 by Matt Brogan

In what could only be described as behaviour that would normally be err, frowned upon, Maserati has for one night allowed a special demonstration to celebrate its win in the 2008 FIA GT Champions.

The Maserati factory in Viale Ciro Menotti, Modena for one night featured a burnout by the stunning MC-12 as well as a mechanical demonstration of just how quickly the pit crew can work on the car in front of hundreds of workers, their families, friends and adoring locals.

Andrea Bertolini and Michael Bartels, put their MC-12 through its paces to a roaring round of applause. The celebrations capped over another highly successful motorsport season for Maserati and the MC-12, with its four year haul of trophies now including 10 FIA GT titles alone.

    Brilliant!

The locals would have absolutely LOVED this!

This reminds of the time I visited Modena and Maranello back in 2003, and we were actually in Maranello when the F1 was on in Monza, or one of the other European rounds (can’t quite recall which it was).

What I do remember is sitting in the town piazza watching the race on the big screen with thousands of screaming Ferrari fanatics…the locals are super passionate about Ferrari, Maserati and Ducati.

Schumi won the race, and about 40 or 50 Ferrari’s came out of nowhere and started doing burnouts, revving engines and taking off up the main strip. The police were standing by cheering them on!!
