Mercedes-Benz AMG: three motor show specials revealed

As is tradition, Mercedes-Benz Australia has unveiled three unique AMG variants at today’s Sydney Motor Show.

The most expensive of which, is the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Roadster which is painted in “Coarse Silver”, an ultra-metallic paint colour that is estimated to add an additional $20,000 to the $487,000 price tag, putting it over the half a million dollar price point. The 420kW and 650Nm 6.3-lire V8 remains unchanged.

A Mercedes-Benz SLK 55 AMG and C 63 AMG with special exterior and interior colours have also been unveiled.

    What’s special about the “ultra-metallic” paint?  Is it a really fine metallic?

        It looks very striking in person. Gives the car a very wet look. Almost looks like a diamond finish. Impossible to do justice in photos but it is unmistakeable in person.

        Looks more like a thin layer of resin was poured over the car and someone sprinkled glitter in it.
