A limited edition McLaren MP4-12C Spider is being offered in the latest Christmas catalog from US-based specialty luxury retail group Neiman Marcus, with a percentage of the sale price going to charity.
Just 12 of the US$354,000 ($346,705) Neimen Marcus Edition McLaren MP4-12C Spiders will be made – around US$85,750 ($84,047) up on the standard car – with US$3000 ($2938) being donated to America’s Big Brothers Big Sisters mentoring program.
The limited edition soft-top McLaren is finished in Volcano Red and includes lightweight diamond-cut wheels with gloss-black inners, gloss-black graphics, contrasting red stitching, a stainless steel special-edition numbered badge and a McLaren luggage set.
While the 12C Spider’s 460kW/600Nm twin-turbo 3.8-litre V8-powered performance figures remain unchanged at 3.1 seconds 0-100km/h and 329km/h top speed, the Neimen Marcus Edition does provide buyers with two business-class airfare tickets to Heathrow Airport, two nights’ accommodation and meals at the Coworth Park Hotel, all transfers, a private VIP dinner with McLaren Chairman Ron Dennis at Coworth Park, and a tour of the McLaren Technology Center.
The retail group points out on their website that the limited edition McLaren supercar, “unlike other supercars in your collection… offers heart-pounding race car performance with a ride akin to an executive’s saloon car.”
Before local fans get too excited, Neiman Marcus says all sales – which open for phone orders on October 24 – will be conducted solely by participating authorised McLaren dealers in the US, with a limit of only one vehicle per qualified customer.
