Citroen Australia has added a new entry-level automatic variant to the Citroen DS4 line-up, offering customers slightly more power and better acceleration from the quirky high-riding hatchback.
The new $35,990 DS4 DStyle auto variant is powered by the same turbocharged 1.6-litre petrol engine as the existing DStyle EGS, but is tuned to produce an extra 5kW for a total output of 120kW of power and 240Nm of torque.
With the new six-speed automatic transmission sending drive to the front wheels, the Citroen DS4 DStyle auto accelerates from 0-100km/h in 8.6 seconds – 1.3sec quicker than the six-speed semi-automatic clutchless DStyle EGS (electronic gearbox system).
While it’s quicker than the equally priced EGS variant, the DStyle auto has the highest fuel consumption of the four-model line-up, with a combined cycle rating of 7.7 litres per 100km. The EGS is around 15 per cent more frugal at 6.5L/100km.
The DStyle auto comes with 17-inch alloy wheels rather than the 18s of the EGS, but otherwise the two models are identically equipped, with a panoramic windscreen, blind spot monitor, LED daytime running lights, dual-zone climate control and front sports seats headlining the standard features list.
Citroen Australia says it expects the new DS4 DStyle automatic to become the most popular variant in the line-up. Citroen has sold 55 DS4s in Australia after launching the ‘crossover coupe’ earlier in 2012.
