Volkswagen Scirocco Studie R concept
Volkswagen has premiered its latest concept at the Bologna Motor Show, inspired by the Scirocco GT24 racer which competed at the Nürburgring 24-hour endurance race earlier this year.
The Scirocco Studie R is finished in white, with red and green accents on the wing mirrors which pay homage to the show's host nation.
The design study boasts an uprated 199kW 2.0-litre TSI engine with larger air intakes at the front to assist with cooling.
Power is sent to the front wheels via a six-speed DSG transmission, where a front splitter adds down force to assist with traction to get all that power to the tarmac.
The rear is dominated by a large rear wing and a distinctive revised rear bumper which incorporates a diffuser and twin oval exhausts.
It is fitted with race derived sports suspension and four-piston brake callipers which sit behind specially developed bespoke polished five arm, triple spoke 19-inch alloy wheels.
Inside, the Scirocco Studie R is upholstered with black and white nappa leather and complemented by carbon fibre trim.
The Italian-inspired red and green design accents continue on the seams of the Recaro seats, steering wheel, armrest, gear knob and floor mats.
Not merely a stillborn concept, the Scirocco Studie R essentially previews the forthcoming "R" version of the three-door coupe.
