Choose your friends wizely ezz. Happy with a Kluger! has he driven it yet without dozing off or continually mounting gutters because of the exonvaldez like steering.

Make sure he gets the v6 serviced before time the v6′s have been known to fail to oil sludge

For every good news story about a Toyota someone will have a bad one, it seems. For me personally, I used to think they were of better quality than most and invested in a Lexus IS200 in 2002 (new). It burnt oil faster than I could refill it and the same thing has occurred with my neighbours Avalon (belches out smoke when he starts it for christ’s sake. Also had a recall on minor stuff such as cracks in the centre console facia and wasn’t impressed with the paint quality. I should add that its value after 4yrs was $21k ($57k new). Was expecting more than that, as my residual was $23k.

Doesn’t necessarily mean they are crap, but I have been burnt and wouldn’t buy one again.

We currently have a Territory AWD 6spd which whilst not perfect, runs like a dream but then have a friend who loves his Kluger. Horses for courses, it seems.

^Or skip the Toyota dealership and drop into a Mazda or Honda Showroom, because I’m sure most brands would have savings around January.

Brilliant marketing hype from the masters at toyota!

So Sales have hit a brick wall & in an effort to prop up December sales they’ve put out there that 2009 prices will have to rise. “you’ll have to hurry”

My advice,hold off they will have too many 08 vehicles(which should be at least 10-15% cheaper in 09 anyway) and walk in to the dealer at the end of january.

Lol, And in 10 years of you owning your Corolla can you tell me when youve actually needed it?

A car so small and well balanced they are very hard to get out of control unless your doing somethign stupid.

you will see the addition of VSC on corollas going into 2009 however

Obviously it wasn’t enough for Toyota to make the most boring vehicles on the planet. They now back that up by making those cars even more expensive.

Another top reason not to buy one.

I would love to know where people get there facts on figures on sales and how much stock is sitting in yards etc etc etc.

I would be that not many people on here knew that toyota had its second biggest November ever last month, and that stock is hardly a problem. Prices of toyotas have always been going up, just about every 6 months they get a price rise.

If you look at the cost of importing anything from Japan in any segment, TV’s house hold goods. The actual cost of these have gone up %30 wich means your New plasma sreen is set for a price rise as well.

To those who think that because the price is going up means they can get some stuff for free if they ask for it are complete idiots, Toyota Australia are charging the dealerships that much more to sell the cars, the cost has gone up, not the profit margins! there is no such thing as free when it comes to car sales.

At the end of the day. Its not the first price rise and it wont be the last, It hasnt hurt them in the past and it wont hurt them in the future. (my bet would be 6 months form now when the next rise comes in)

Actually Wheelnut no local producer can afford to drop prices, its bad business (sure you clear stock, but..)

You can buy the 60th ed Omega for less than 30k drive away with 18′s, some leather and blue tooth, jesus, if it had a six speed box I would almost buy one myself! As for resale values of the poor buggers that purchased earlier..listen take off the on roads and dealer delivery its almost competing against the Epica! (pre giveaway price)

Always been said there is more money in big cars, but you have to wonder these days, they are being priced mid sized almost..

Agree that the price rise from Toyota is disappointing however, but this is a business decision, will have to wait and see if it impacts on sales.

And yes, Toyota does need to improve in the build quality stakes, living on past rep at the moment when one looks at recalls and so called “product enhancements” over the last few years.
