Stop comparing apples with pears. I have been the proud owner of a Mahindra Scorpio 2.6 TDI(suv) for over a year now and can tell you there is nothing wrong with these vehicles. There is nothing in this price range that can compare. I bought it 2nd hand and for as long as I’ve had it not a single problem. Parts are a lot cheaper than other brands. Easy and cheap to run. Comfortable. Fuel economy is quite good for a 2ton suv, I get 10km/l in stop go city driving daily. I will only swop my Scorpio for a 4×4 scorpio.

You are correct. I went to the Nissan site to confirm it. BUT…..you have to be an ABN holder. So i will stand by my original comment. I think you will still negotiate a better deal on the car you really want though. :)

Andrew, I agree with you except for “Landcruiser look-alike ripoff” ?????? WTF?????

I’m scratching my head trying to picture a Dual Cab Landcruiser that looks anything like this POS, but not coming up trumps.

I say one of these things – I think it is on a car lot at Cranbourne – and in the flesh it looks, compared to the pictures on the web, well, even more ridiculous.

I’d never buy one of these.

i cant see too many people diving for this landcruiser look a like rip off.

Frontman,
these prices wont include tray.
the cab chassis models listed are 2K cheaper then the styleside tubs.

expect to add another 2K for the alloy tray bringing their cheapest model to 21,990. and thats before you ask if A/C and others are included. plus on roads dont forget, another 3K??

so 21K including everything on the ranger??
thats where i would go if shopping in the typical “Jap ute” class

Most of this year Ranger has been between $20,990 & $22,990 Drive away with tray, Air, Windows & locks for abn holders. Nissan is very similar. Both 2.5 CRDti. Mazda BT50 isn’t that much more with toolboxes ladder rack and protector. I know Triton is also being thrown at the market. Even if these were drive away with tray and such at $19,990 I feel certain even you would spring for the extra 3K and get a known brand. Same goes with the Dual cab

They are all turbo diesels. I can not think of another 4×4 diesel dual cab for $29,990.00. Who else will sell you a new 4×2 single cab diesel for $19,990.00. I think they represent good value on paper. Of course i have not driven one yet.
TATA are huge over seas, did they not just buy Jaguar and Landrover?

Pricing’s sharp salesman?? Have a look at the prices of Navara, Triton BT50 etc…. and they all have proven reliability.
Biggles, ask a few questions about the other Indian that tried to make it out here, TATA. The Talcoline at least looked traditional but I believe it was responsible for almost as many nervous breakdowns as Lada Samara’s were.
Nope I don’t believe these should be here.

To quote the salesman:”You can not argue the price.” Yes you can. It is way too much. The 4×2 cab chassis is $19999. A Ranger 4×2 2.5T/D cab chassis is $20999.

Who in their right mind would buy one of these P.O.S. for only a $1000 saving? Perhaps only the most patriotic ex pat Indian!
