An ultra-high performance version of the Hyundai Genesis Coupe with 295kW and 460Nm of torque will be revealed at next month’s SEMA show in Las Vegas.

The “ultra-high performance track edition” is based on the updated Hyundai Genesis Coupe R-Spec with its brand new 3.8-litre V6 engine, which has been tuned by ARK Performance, Hyundai’s regular SEMA partner.

Apart from the more extreme bodywork, ARK Performance has added a host of hardware including its own oil cooler, air intake and crankshaft, and a bespoke ECU map.

The race-inspired carbonfibre body kit features a ground-hugging front splitter, huge rear wing and a vented bonnet.

The Hyundai Genesis Coupe also gets improved stopping power with the addition of a six-piston brake kit and ARK carbon brake pads and steel brake lines.

The SEMA show runs from October 30 to November 2.

Now that’s funny considering what’s been going on here lately.

    • JooberJCW

They do have a TAU 5.0 v8 engine too :) wouldnt be suprised one day…

    • Huwtm

I should also mention that I’m starting to find Hyundai and Kia output figures to be a bit dubious. The cars just aren’t performing the way they should when you look at Kw Nm and the size of the particular car. So frantically, I’d take any number like that with a grain of salt until its independently tested. That probably means some one other than Car Advice – sorry to say.

      • Huwtm

ooops don’t know how that happened – frantically you be frankly – there might be multiple posts some where too, sorry if there are.

  • Wizzbang

Great car but what a terrible Photoshop job! Looks like the car’s wheels have no rubber at the bottom and has been fused with the ground

  • Pauly

Common Hyundai Australia! PLEASE Bring the Genesis Coupe to Australia!

    • trololololol

The next gen Genesis coupe will be coming to aus.

    • Monk

      Common???
      “Come on” perhaps?
Seriously – did anyone here actually go to school?

      • Sante Clause

Thats should read “Seriously, did anyone here go to school?”

           Note the comma!!

The hyphen (‐) is a punctuation mark used to join words and to separate syllables of a single word. The use of hyphens is called hyphenation.

        • Jober As A Sudge

          Oh…that’ll learn him good!

        • Monk

          hahaha.  Touche!

  • Pro346

295 kw is considered “ultra high performance” not sure about that…..not when it comes to the after market .

  • Neeko

Holy Jeebus, 295kws is quite substantial.

    • Noddy of Toyland

      That’s what she said.

  • Zaccy16

They will never bring this high performance version here but might bring the lesser models

  • JooberJCW

295kw off a N/A 3.8 6cyl? must be a real hi revver, wonder whats the engine soundtrack on that.

    • Monk

      Clunk clunk BANG!

  • Force-15

I’m waiting to see F1orce’s reaction to this. Either that or his head’s going to explode…

    • Legnab

ROFL made my day Force -15 , we will be in for a lecture i would say , hes taken camry lovers spot as mr anal .

  • F1orce

    Damn straight.

The Genesis is Hyundai’s attack on the euro hot hatches. In Australia

Once this comes out in Australia then all the euro brands will lower the prices.

Hyundai is obviously taking this vehicle seriously for Australia and are analysing the market conditions.

My friend has the 2012 Genesis Coupe 3.8 V6 and its very fast, it kills V6 Mustang’s. & Camero’s Heck even the Camry V6 is faster than a V6 mustang lol

    • Phil

They’re obviously analysing Australia’s market conditions are they? By sending a special race version to a show in Las Vegas?
Why would that make Australian’s sit up and take notice?

      • Zaccy16

Very good point Phil! more dribble from F1orce!

      • F1orce

Hyundai+Kia makes for the seconds largest brand in Australia after Toyota-Motor-Corporation

So that means Hyundai exceeds GM & Ford, which doesn’t come as a surprise.

The Genesis is a significant nameplate and i’m sure Hyundai wants to get it right.

        • Phil

Go on, tell us how sending a special racing version to a show in Las Vegas is how Hyundai gets this car right for Australia?

          • F1orce

The Vegas part has got nothing to do with getting it right for Australia.

But if Hyundai does get the Genesis to become big in Australia then Hyundai will be in for quite a treat.

          • Huwtm

Pardon me? So if Hyundai ever produce a new version with right hand drive (New version means one different to the one you are in love with, weird rear quarter windows and all) and then they find a business argument to bring it here, and if they sell a lot of them they will be happy? Do I understand you? So it could be a car you may not actually like, and maybe they will think the 350Z is more their target than a hot hatch, or the 86. Which could mean a price which most people would baulk at, meaning low sales? Or they could think of it as a Tiboroun replacement, then what, small engines?

          • Phil

So what is Hyundai doing to; as you put it “obviously taking this vehicle seriously for Australia”?

Of course the Euro will NOT be lowering their prices if the Genesis comes to Australia. Hyundai already has a huge range now, yet no one has lowered prices in response. Hyundai has actually  been RAISING their prices – though shortly after the release of most of their new higher price models, discounts quickly emerge.

Genesis will make no difference at all to the Hot hatch market or their prices. Inner city conservatives will keep buying GTIs, bogans will keep buying SS utes, Wogs will keep getting WRXs, purists will stick with Renaultsports, fussy people will go for 1 series or S3, the retros or ’fashionables’ will get Mini-Coopers and the mid-life-crisis people will keep getting convertables.

    • Huwtm

What rubbish! Until there is a completely new Genesis – it’s not even on the horizon. (Gee I hope they make the next one look better!) I still say the numbers are most likely fantasy

    • Force-15

Well damn. Looks like his head did explode… if you catch my drift.

  • Goodjjp

    295 KW ??? on NA V6 or Stroker V6?;;… TurboChagre V6 …. Stroker 4 Cylinder turbo ?
    295KW … … ?????????

  • Gues1

how can anyone say the look of genesis is not good?

i think it looks pretty good avtually, you’ll definatey look at it when it goes past you and you will sya whats’s tha?

like the veloster it just catches the eyes

  • Gollf

how much would the genesis coupe be priced here if it ever comes here?

    • HFXFY

      Starting price probably 45k?

      • Sturmgewehr

haha what clown. the 2013 Genesis 2.0T is less than the base GT86 in the US & A
