you hit the nail right on the head. I have a 06 RV ute($63k) with a GXL ute on order ($74k). We are MAD to pay it and Toyota are laughing their arse all the way to the bank but what else does one buy.

I must be missing the point.
Over 60K for a truck without traction control, airbags. You have to be kidding , right?.
Toyota are laughing at us Ozzies for being so moronic. It is not that Landcruisers and Hi-luxes are so good, it is just that the alternatives are so bad.

By the way, I have owned 3 80, 2 100 series and heaps of luxes.

Well I have enjoyed my new GXL cab chassis for 3 weeks now. It arrived a few weeks earlier than the yard predicted. To answer a few of my questions earlier, the fuel economy is that good if you only ‘tonk’ around and don’t put the foot down which is hard with so much power coming out of the V8. Once you load it up with gear and trailer the economy drops off a bit but still better than my old 12HT turbo. I immediately noticed the extra 100mm in cab space compared to my old HJ cruiser and the foot rest for the clutch foot is great. The spare tyre under the tray seems to make little to no difference in the height of the tray, it depends on who makes the tray. Under the bonnet is packed except for one corner left clean for a second battery. I bought the cradle from ARB ($115) and ordered a smart electronic kit online for ($140) plus a battery. This is such a smoother car to drive, the engine is noticeably quieter than the old diesel, much more visibility, much, much more power, very comfortable bucket seats. Downsides – not much really – harder ride than wagons but it is a work ute, and I swapped the tyres straight away at the local tyre shop for better ones (straight swap) – oh yeah the speakers are a bit tinny.

I ordered a GXL cab chassis on the 15 june 2007 and it is still not here.Toyota tell me it is not in production yet. Every month they make up a differnt story.Toyota are the most usless arrogant company to deal with they dont care just a delivery date would be nice after all it has been over 7 MONTHS and still no ute.

I also ordered a new GXL cab chassis beginning of December and was told not to expect it until the end of February. From all the reports so far it should be a great vehicle but I have only seen one on display at the 4×4 show in Perth and not even had a chance at a test drive or even a test sit in. For now I will keep driving my 22 year old toyota turbo diesel dual cab chassis – still going strong. If anyone has one now how about some feedback on how they go. Questions – Is the fuel economy that good when loaded for work? – Have they given a bit more room in the cab for legs? – How does the spare tyre under tray effect the height of the tray, especially for the mag spare.

I also ordered a new gxl cab chassis in may and have been told delivery is in september but not garanteed. They also told me there is no toyota alloy bar for it yet

I orderd my cab chassis early in March they told me may/june delivery but typical of the Arrogance of toyota it is now august/september maybe this is still not confirmed

I ordered my gxl cab chassis on the 4th of april and it turned up on the dealer’s floor on the 11th of april. Some dealers told me they couldn’t get 1 till june/july and the dealer i bought mine through got it rite away and was alot more helpfull than most dealers. I cant wait coz i luv the new machine…

Ordered a new cab chassis on saturday 31/03/07 with all the extras,only problem, wont get it till end of june start of july, hopefully by then arb would of developed after market suspension, winch bars and side rails.

I reported that I received my new GLX from the wrong people, I should have said LE-MANS TOYTA SUNSHINE, Victoria. Its now already travelled 400 klms and showing just over half of the first tank, All I can describe it as being compared to white lightening. Its handling is supurb, power unreal and economy is just awsome.Night lights, just brilliant and comfort plus. Top job again Toyota.

Toyota US are indicating 245Kw from the new V8 diesel. Can only imagine that the chip kits for our 151Kw domestic V8 models won’t be far away.

Thursday 29th march 07. after first spotting and having a goodstick beak at the test model 70 series ute, I was smitten. I pick up my new Gxl cab chassis tomorrow arvo and can’t wait to go out on my own. I test drove it at Alan Mance Toyota Sunshine Victoria last Thursday and immediately bought it, then sold my very faithfull and bloody reliable 2001 turbo diesel. Its got tuns a grunt, Well done Toyota!!!!!!!!!

four door 70 series wagon is nothing new, Toyota have been building them since 1985 I think. Mine is an LJ78.
