'Compression-ignition technology ensures spontaneous throttle response....'
As far as i am aware, all diesels are compression ignition. That's what makes it a diesel. I think that marketing may need to take a back seat for a while there Porsche, as i don't think this model or the inventive PR surrounding it is helping much.

Although not pretty, I can't recall a Ssangyong that looked like this. The performance isn't that bad (about 0-60 in 8 seconds) but I don't know why they didn't use the V10 diesel from the Touraeg. It would have fitted because they are basically the same car (they use the same door panels for god sakes!).

With the performance is gone, why would you buy this?

And what is going on with that rear, looks like Ssangyong snuck into their design department and changed a few things.

Porsche could have easily countered the "diesel isnt a performance engine/fuel" argument by modifying the 3.0L block from VAG's stable by putting an extra turbo on it.

It'd be revvy(ish), it'd have a superior power and torque output; Porsche needn't fit the much heavier 5.0L V10 or 6.0L V12 engines from the remainder of the VAG stable.

Or am I thinking too deep into what really is just a cash-generating machine for Porsche?

RIch Boy - Ground clearance old chum. Its an off roader.

I'm amazed theat they have only used the 3.0litre VW diesel. I presume the V12 from the Audi Q7 wouldn't fit under the bonnet.

This is obviously is a way for Porsche their reduce their overall CO2 average uotputs to comply with the Eurocrats!!
