The first images of the Peugeot 2008 concept have leaked ahead of the compact SUV’s unveiling at this month’s Paris motor show.

Sharing much of its design with the Peugeot Urban Crossover concept seen earlier this year – bar the fluoro paint and black highlights – the Peugeot 2008 concept car is believed to be based on the Peugoet 208 platform, ensuring the dimensions stay true to its compact SUV segment.

Expect it to measure in at 4140mm long and 1740mm wide – 245mm shorter and 91mm narrower than an Audi Q3.

While engine specifications are yet to be announced, the mini soft-roader is likely to take advantage of Peugeot’s extensive range of powertrains including both petrol and diesel options.

The Peugeot 2008 concept will spawn a production model, expected sometime in 2013, which will compete with the all-new Ford EcoSport, Holden Trax/Opel Mokka, and a slew of other compact SUVs.

Further details will follow once the Paris show kicks off on September 27.

So it this the same size as the Mitsubishi based Peugeot 4008 SUV or smaller?? I like it, but to me it looks like it’s too close in size to the 4008. Will probably only come in 2WD anyway, as I think most of the competition will be only 2WD as well.

    Nice job Peugeot!

I like it too. Looks like 2008 is 200mm shorter and 100mm narrower than 4008. I guess if 4WD is available, the price may be fairly close to 4008 2WD ….. just wait & see.

Visually the french are continuing to leave their Japanese peers in their wake

Everyone leaves their Japanese peers in their wake.

They make some great cars, but appearance wise, the majority are horrid. Mainly the interior design is shocking.

Japanese must stop eating sushi and noodles, they need to get serious about interior and exterior design of their cars. I believe Toyota is sending the message with the new 2013 Toyota Corolla. Nissan needs to change their car designers. I believe these guys eat sardines in the morning and go to work.

It looks like a previous gen Camry front on.

        Are your eyes painted on?

I’m sorry I form my own opinions, rather then just regurgitate someone else’s. It’s pretty fun forming an opinion. You should try it some time.

“It’s pretty fun forming an opinion. You should try it some time.”
This aren’t your own words hypocrite, I’ve heard them before.

          • Patto

Yeah, they were mine. Eve was ever so cleverly (insert sarcastic tone here) throwing them back at me.

          • Eve

            Aren’t you observant?…

          • Patto

It is true that everyone is entitled to their opinion. However, not everyone’s opinion is valid. Read into that what you will.

          • Eve

Interesting you say that, because not everyone’s opinion is valid. Read into that what you will…

Eve is a deadset kunt. Get back to talking to snakes and gobbling forbidden fruit ya flog.

Are they trying to mimic the Land Rover Discovery with that roofline?

I find the idea of a mini Peugeot SUV quite desirable, can’t wait to see the full design.

It’s possible there wouldn’t be a huge market for it in France because huge cars aren’t really the thing there, but I would actually love to see Peugeot make a really big XC90/Touareg sized car with seven seats. With their diesel hybrid tech and their styling talent I think they could potentially make something really good. I’m a little tired of all these micro SUVs, I want to see something that has some purpose.

I am from Sri Lanka. Some time back (in the hey days of the Peugeot 504),a well known Auto Mechanic told me “Sir the Peugeot is a superb car and was unbeatable in reliability. So on that basis I, somewhat recently, purchased a 307. I had problems with it and I took it to a very efficient auto mechanic. He said “Sir, dont recommend the Peugeot even to your enemy”. Why has the Peugeot gone so backward. Perhaps you  think that Asian countries are not not worth your while. But it is the emerging market. It is sad you are neglecting this market.
