Jaguar F-Type locked in for Sydney motor show

The Jaguar F-Type is set to become one of the stars of the 2012 Australian international motor show (AIMS), with the British luxury marque confirming its all-new convertible sports car will headline its stand in October.

The Sydney unveiling will be just the second time the F-Type has been shown to the public anywhere in the world and its first appearance in the Southern Hemisphere, following the car’s global premiere at the 2012 Paris motor show in September.

AIMS director Russ Tyrie said the confirmation of the F-Type’s local unveiling was thrilling news for automotive fans across Australia and Asia-Pacific.

“We are honoured and excited that the 2012 Australian international motor show has been selected as the platform for the second official world unveiling of the all-new Jaguar F-Type convertible,” Tyrie said.

“The all-new F-Type is guaranteed to amaze the world’s automotive industry and its unveiling is certainly a momentous occasion in Jaguar’s illustrious history.”

The F-Type will be joined on the Jaguar stand by the updated 2013 Jaguar XF and XJ models, which are also making their Australian debuts.

The all-new Range Rover has also been locked in to make its second international appearance at the Sydney show, while an evolutionary version of the Lexus LF-LC supercar concept will make its global debut on the Japanese manufacturer’s stand.

The Jaguar F-Type is scheduled to go on sale in Australia during the second half of 2013.

From launch, it will be offered with the choice of three supercharged petrol engines: 250kW and 280Nm tunes of Jaguar’s all-new 3.0-litre V6, and an updated version of the brand’s existing 5.0-litre V8.
