Audi sales on target for one million units

Audi sales are well in reach of the targeted one million vehicles the brand aims to sell globally this year.

To date, some 844,700 units have been sold worldwide this year with the brand recording a 3.3 percent increase in year-on-year sales.

Audi registered growth both in the European as well as in the emerging Asian markets.

"Audi is performing well, but our corporate performance is increasingly influenced by declining markets" Audi Chairman Rupert Stadler said.

The launch of the new Q5 SUV in mid-November will further strengthen sales of the brand, increasing strong sales already demonstrated by the A4 Avant, A3 and A6 models, especially in Europe (excluding Germany), where Audi delivered 388,053 vehicles to customers between January and October this year.

"Despite the currently difficult overall economic environment, we will reach our sales target of one million vehicles for 2008" annonced Peter Schwarzenbauer, Member of the Board of Management for Marketing and Sales of Audi.

In Australia alone, Audi reached sales of 704 vehicles for the month, up 16.5 percent month-on-month, which takes the brand's cumulative total to 8,110 units this year, 28.8 percent better than 2007.

Despite sales currently being stable, Audi will use the Christmas break to align production to individual levels of demand.
