Cadillac ‘glamour’ coupe concept sketches revealed

Cadillac has released teaser images of an intriguing new concept vehicle it is expected to unveil at the 2013 Detroit motor show in January.

General Motors’ Detroit-based luxury division gave reporters a sneak peek at two sketches of the concept at this week’s 2012 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance in California, teasing design elements reminiscent of the 2011 Cadillac Ciel convertible concept.

The images that flashed up on screen during Cadillac’s presentation have since been cleaned up and extrapolated by a forum member from enthusiast website GM Inside News to give us a better idea of what to expect from the dramatically styled coupe.

The concept has been styled under the brand’s new design direction, informally referred to as ‘American glamour meets American technology’, which Cadillac director of advanced design Clay Dean says is intended to “reflect back not for nostalgia, but what made us great at the time”.

Consequently dubbed the Cadillac ‘glamour’ concept, the coupe appears set to build on the striking design of the Ciel, sporting narrow vertical headlights, a wide, V-shaped grille, and sharp angles at the rear with long tail-light towers.

Few other details are known at this stage, although more information is expected to be revealed in the coming months in the lead-up to its unveiling.
