This paint job is absoultly terrible, thank god its not a normal police vehical but still its terrible. It looks like a New Zealand Police paint job. Shame on whoever designed this.

Actually, Victoria police have a few of these, and they are operational duty vehicles. I personally have been pulled over twice, bye a lancer in my duty car, that’s an unmarked AFP Mazda 6.

we have an unmarked black 300c on the coast that (according to the poor sods picked up) encourages them to run hard then pulls them over. I have also heard of a red ute with plates “tryme” or something like that, which does the same. Dont know about the latter, though, sounds a bit urban legendish to me.

Of course they weren’t attending an incident, because just like the Chrysler 300c and Hummer and others before them, THIS IS JUST A PROMOTIONAL VEHICLE. It is NOT an active police vehicle.

The police are the last sobs who should be permitted in a vehicle like this. The general behaviour and attitude described by Not Happy Jan is something I have witnessed on a number of occasions. Once, I over took a copper show ponying. He pulled up next to me at the next set of lights and didn’t he give me the dirtiest look! He did not however decide to pursue the matter as he blasted off to show me who’s ‘boss’. Fair dinkum some of these blokes in uniform are knobs.

At 9:15pm tonight (6/11/2008), I turned off Brunswick Rd and headed up Grantham St in Brunswick West. There were some roadworks going on, so I slowed for the 40 zone. In my rear-view mirror, I saw the unmistakable shape of a new Lancer front end pull up quickly. The driver seemed impatient. I continued to drive at 40, only to have the Lancer pull around me on the outside lane as soon as a gap appeared in the parked cars alongside. The car accelerated to what I would say was at least 80km/h (in what is normally a 60 zone, but was 40 due to roadworks).

The fact that the car was speeding is bad enough. The fact that it looked exactly like the car above (Vic Police colours and all)is what really got to me!!!

He/she sped past, doing what I would consider an unsafe manouvre given the small gap in parked cars, was not using any lights or sirens, and then made a quick right-hand turn down a side street without indicating. I know they wasn’t attending to an incident, because after I turned right further up ahead, I saw the car appear from another side street, and drive into the Police Station opposite.

Why the driver would be doing any of these things in a car which is so clearly a Police vehicle is beyond me. The fact that they were speeding and breaking the road rules, and also driving dangerously, makes their entire “safety” campaign seem like a joke. Put them back in a Hummer so at least they won’t be tempted by that kind of stupidity.

Sorry for the long post, but I think it needed to be said. I really am very disappointed. I’d love to hear a response from the Police.

We get force fed how bad and dangerous high performance cars are, yet the police think its the perfect promo car.

Don’t get too excited, this is just a one-off promotional vehicle. We won’t be seeing these in general use out on the roads and highways of Victoria (where the Falcons & Commodores still rule).
