Citroen DS3 to drop top at Paris: report

A convertible version of the Citroen DS3 city car is set to be unveiled at next month’s Paris motor show.

UK publication Auto Express reports the drop-top Citroen DS3 will be at the Parisian auto fest, sporting a Fiat 500C-style roll-back fabric roof rather than a conventional folding roof.

The roll-back roof will concertina back to rest above the DS3’s tailgate leaving the existing side windows and roof bars in place. Auto Express suggests the result should be less weight gain compared with a conventional convertible system, and a convertible that is cheaper to build and cheaper to buy.

Based on recent spy snaps the DS3 convertible appears likely to be joined by a 115kW turbocharged 1.6-litre DS3 DSport variant, wearing 17-inch alloy wheels and twin exhausts, and an efficiency-minded 82kW 1.6-litre diesel version.

The Citroen DS3 is available in both DStyle and Dsport in Australia and starts from $26,990. There are currently no convertible models in Citroen’s Australian line-up.
