Lamborghini Urus SUV expected at Australian motor show

The Lamborghini Urus SUV is set to become one of the biggest stars of the 2012 Australian International motor show stand in Sydney this October.

CarAdvice can exclusively reveal that the controversial Lamborghini Urus off-roader is expected to join the Lamborghini Gallardo LP550-2 Spyder and Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4 supercar on the Italian brand’s stand.

While motor show director Russ Tyrie said, "At this stage, we can confirm that a third vehicle will feature on the Lamborghini stand; whilst we cannot give exact details just yet, it will be a show-stopping concept never before seen in Australia," a source revealed to CarAdvice that, "I’d put money on it being the Urus."

Considering the hype surrounding the unveiling of the Lamborghini Urus SUV concept at the 2012 Beijing motor show in April, it’s highly likely the same car will equally impress Australian audiences.

The extreme five-seater luxury SUV, comparable in height to a Range Rover Evoque but 620mm longer and 20mm wider, is said to produce at least 440kW, with numerous reports suggesting it could be propelled by a modified version of an Audi twin-turbo V8 engine, potentially partnered to hybrid or plug-in technology.

Exhibiting an all-new stand design, Lamborghini has confirmed the rear-wheel drive Gallardo soft-top - on sale in Australia later this year - will make its Oceanic debut in Sydney, while the range-topping Aventador will have its second official appearance down under.

The 2012 Australian International motor show kicks off on October 19 at the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre in Darling Harbour.
