KIA CERATO

Official teaser images of the third-generation Kia Cerato have been revealed showing the rear end of the car and hinting at the front end and profile.

The four images, superimposed with Facebook profile pictures, were posted on the Kia’s Facebook page and join the official Kia Cerato sketches released earlier this week. While there are definite design similaities between the two, in terms of the overall silhouette, the production car will be tamer and less-raked than the sleek car penned.

The all-new Cerato will make its official debut at the 2012 Los Angeles motor show in November before reaching Australia in the first half of 2013. Once released, the Kia Cerato sedan will be followed by the Cerato hatch and Cerato Koup before the end of 2013, in keeping with the current line-up.

More images are due to be released on Kia’s Facebook page once enough ‘likes’ are received.

Further to Kia’s teaser campaign, a new Cerato has been boxed-up and placed inside a South Korean mall with several openings allowing passers by to catch a glimpse of the car ahead of its unveiling. A live web-cam is also part of the campaign.

Waiting for the koup version. hope it can be more muscular and come with turbo!

    • Force-15

Not to mention a decent chassis to make use of that extra power…

    Looks interesting.

It looks like a real competitor to MAzda 3. Sales of Toyota Corolla is gonna be crushed by this.

“Sales of Toyota Corolla is gonna be crushed by this”

Not really. Corolla will continue to sell to the blind.

Meanwhile this is going to be a fantastic vehicle if KIA’s latest efforts are anything to go by. They can only be ignored for so long!!

      • KIa – the Poor man’s Toyota

As well as fleets and people who value good resale value.

        • Sumpguard

….but are prepared to sacrifice EVERYTHING else! The corolla is a very ordinary vehicle. Pretty much every review places it last in its segment. That’s a hell of a price to pay for having a decent resale value don’t you think?

It’s one thing to have good resale but you need to suffer through the ownership experience to get it so what’s the point?  That and the fact you pay more for less! Yep, that’s smart.

                  Kia -the wise man’s toyota!

          • Andrew_diablo

You just said what I’ have been thinking of for as long time …

            “Kia – wise men’s automobile”

          • Sumpguard

Not everyone gets it though. They bang on about so-called superior resale but they pay a premiium for what is essentially a dull car to start with.

Hardly clever economics. We had a corolla while my partner’s car was in the panel shop and couldn’t wait to give it back!

        • Michael Todd

Yeah. Because people buy cars only for resale value.

  • Vins

the front seems to look very BMW 3 series

    • Richo

What, through beer bottle glasses?  However, it’s bum looks just like the dated Mondeo to me.

  • Basil Exposition

This looks like an attractive alternative to an Elantra and other small cars. Positives include:
    1. 1.8 GDi engine
    2. 6 speed auto
    3. Timing chain
    4. 12 mth servicing
    5. 5 year warranty
    6. Engine runs on 91 RON fuel
    7. Likely good value

  • Schn

The rear looks a lot like a ford mondeo. The front lights I think look a bit like the new Mazda6…I actually thought that this was another Mazda6 teaser when I saw the cover image for this article on the front page…

  • ANF

They have cleaned up the lines a bit but it still looks good, the new koup will have either the 2.0L or a 2.4L litre turbo. It will be intresting to see but how far their designs go but in updating their current range everything from the sorento to the cerato as at the moment I reckon they have the most attractive line-up. Within the next 2-3 years Kia/hyundai will be setting the bench-marks they have alreasy started now

    • Basil Exposition

      I agree.

  • Michael Todd

    Looks great!

  • Realcars

Toyota resale is an illusion as you pay alot more for one in the first place. As a percentage the latest Koreans have similar resale residuals to Toyota and most other makes in class etc.Fleet Toyota Camry Aurion are cheap as chips with low klms and near new condition.
The exception is that Toyota fanatics will put up with behind the times safety/equipment in their vehicles and pay premiums for equipment standard in others. Probably because your average Toyota buyer typically knows nothing about cars and their inner workings and relies on a myth.

Pretty sad world when aussies get excited about a Kia.
    What’s happening to this country?

    • Basil Exposition

Thanks, you are right… I was starting to get a boner about a Yaris, when your post shook me back to reality. F&$k it, I’m buying a V8 ute… no more nancy boy for me. Yeah, I’ve also just chucked my facial scrub into the bin.

      • Garrywhopper

        Another sarcastic homo, great

        • Basil Exposition

          No, just taking the piss.

    • Shak

The people of this country are excited by whitegoods, so when we see a genuinely tempting vehicle we have every right to get excited.

      • Noddy of Toyland

If you find a small Kia hatchback ‘genuinely tempting’, why did you buy an SS-V and IS350?

  • Smart US

Peter Scheyer is doing a great job in Kia
